May 1872: Election held to provide for the organization of counties into municipal townships. This having passed, In July 1872 an election was held for the Supervisors for each Township. Twenty-five Supervisors were elected but at the next meeting fractional pieces were combined and the following 23 Townships were established:

Aug 1877: County was divided into nine (9) municipal townships containing congressional townships as follows:
Grand River Township containing 52-51, 53-20 and 53-21.
Rea Township containing 51-22, 52-22, and 53-22.
Carrollton Township containing 51-23, 52-23, and 53-23.
Beaty Township containing 51-24, 52-24, and 53-24.
Norborne Township containing 51-25, 52-25, and 53-25.
Bates Township containing 54-25 and 55-25.
Morris Township containing 54-24 and 55-24.
Bogart Township containing 54-23 and 55-23.
Wood Township containing 54-22, 55-22, 54-21, and 55-21.

Apr 1881: Following an election in Nov 1880, the Townships were re-established as they had been established in July 1872 (above). An election was held again in Oct 1882 regarding this and it passed again. (23 Townships)

Apr 1906: The County Court found "that township organization does not now and never has existed in a legal sense in Carroll County" and proceeded to meet the requirements of the occasion by dividing the county once more into convenient townships. This was done by dividing the county into the same districts and giving each congressional township the name then used. (22 Townships)
