This was in my parent's possessions from items purchased at auctions. They attended auctions from Sweet Srings to Jamesport and DeWitt to Braymer. Just would love to think that they can be identified and returned to their lineage. |

The following photos are from an album belonging to Dora May Standley (1889-1970), daughter of Joseph Marion Standley and Mary Elizabeth Hayes. Dora marrued about 1943 in New Mexico to Dolphus Burbridge (1881-1953). They lived their the remainder of their lives. Dora was born in Hill Township, Carroll County, Missouri and lived there and in Bogard, Carroll County, Missouri until the time she married and moved to New Mexico. It is believed that the pictures are from the late 1800 to the early 1900, because it also contains a memorial card for Dora's Grandmother, Annie (Banner) Hayes (1818-1899). The album has Dora's name as Dora Stanley in the back of it, so was at least started before she married. Although she has her name spelled Stanley, her father has Standley on both his tombstone and his death certificate. I'm hoping someone will recognize at least some of the photos so they can be identified. |

My direct-line ancestral surnames from Carroll County are:
HASS, MCCLANAHAN, NEET, POWEL, RENZELMAN, SCHROEDER, SMITH, and THOMAS.
Other Carroll County surnames which may be associated with those previously mentioned (but not necessarily the only possible connections to the photos) are: BREUMMER, BRUNNWORTH, BUCHOLZ, FLICK, GRABLE, LAYMAN, LINDEMAN, MOELLER, OTIS, POORMAN, SCHNARE, SCOTT, STRIBLING, RYBISKI and WARD. Because the tintype was very dark, I have computer- enhanced them to make the subjects more visible. #1 - This 2 1/4"x 3 1/4" tintype of a family is obviously very damaged, bent and scraped up, and bears no identifying marks. |

It is tinted and has a background that looks as though the photo of the girl has been applied like a decal onto a rough, possibly etched, background. By photographing the original, the features and colors came out clearly from the very darkened tintype. |

Recently I was given an old photo that had been in my Grandmother's care since her Aunt died in the 1940's. It is of a couple and was taken in Hale, Missouri. I do not know who these people were. My cousins and I have been trying to identify and research many of the pictures that my Grandmother had. Our parents are of no help in that they do not recognize most of these people either. I am wondering if there is someone who might recognize the couple. The photo was in the possession of Susannah and George Hammond in Portland, Oregon. Susannah and George both came from Illinois in the 1880's. Susannah was related to Atkinson's, Hunter's and Hazlewood's. Thanks. photo taken by W. M. Willis, Hale, Missouri |
